Val's Birthday Party

Randy's dad celebrated his 70th birthday in September. We had a family get together with a little "surprise". Randy's dad has been talking about a flat screen television for a LONG time. So the boys got together and purchased him one.

We looked at lots of brands and lots of ratings, and finally settled on the LG 46" inch television. Randy's mom pitched in and covered a new speaker sound system to go with it.

It was lots of fun getting him out of the house so we could set it up lightening fast! I didn't take any pictures of it because Natasha had out her fancy camera and am I sure took AMAZING ones!

It was funny when he walked in. He saw all of the cameras in his face. But he didn't notice the t. v. I started pointing to the wall to try to get him to look. Randy said something about the wall and then he saw it! It was funny. He was so shocked he didn't know what to say.

My contribution to the party was some snicker cupcakes. I started with a chocolate cupcake. Then I cored out the center.Mixed up snickers bars with a caramel sauce. Which by the way looked white instead of caramel color. I guess I have a different idea of almost burned than the recipe. Filled the cupcakes. Then frosted them with a salted caramel frosting.

YUMMMM!!!

I have made them since and used my own favorite caramel sauce, which is also really good. I like the thin texture of the first one, but next time I need to cook it longer til it is really almost burned! ;)

A Lot Of Posts!! Get Ready!

I stayed home from church yesterday with Corbin. He has his first cold at 6 months. I hope it doesn't turn into an ear infection.

He looks awful! But he still manages to give us lots of smiles and giggles.

So I decided since I was home that I should update the blog. Get ready for a WHOLE LOT of posts! I am finally caught up. The oldest post will be labeled Pioneer Day. So if you haven't gotten that far, there is still more to see! ENJOY!!

Halloween Party

We had a little Halloween Party with some of our friends this year. I am getting a little better at the timeline leading up to the party, but it is still hard for me to get everything done I would like to do.

I had decorated the room with lots of flying bats. I took bat cutouts and strung them from the ceiling with fishing line so it looked like they were flying. It turned out really cool.

We served Ghost cupcakes which were pumpkin spiced cupcakes with a pumpkin creme filling.
Mummy oreo cookie pops. Really good!
Spider web cupcakes- browned butter cupcakes with a caramel filling.
Banana Ghost Pops.
Bones and blood- Connor made these.
Mummy Dogs- Randy made these. The eyes are mustard.
Caramel Toffee Dip with Cinnamon Chips.
Frankenstien Cake Pops. I didn't have time to draw the faces on before the guests arrived. But they were YUMMY! I used a mint flavoring and it was so good with the chocolate!
We also had dirt cake, ding dong spiders, pumpkin cheesecake dip, pizza, pico de gallo and chips and a vegetable tray. I tried out a new green punch that was supposed to glow in the dark.
I was so sad that it didn't and it was nasty tasting too! I am not going to use that recipe again!!

My favorite was the bat tree! I loved how spooky and pretty it was at the same time.
Why yes! That is a candy corn garland! I am THAT crazy to do something like that. It turned out cute but took so long that I don't think I will be doing that decoration again! ;)

Halloween Costumes

We had so much fun with Halloween Parties this year. We had a truck or treat at our church. Randy and I dressed up like the Queen of Hearts and The Mad Hatter. He would of looked better with the wig, but it cost more than the costume so we went without it this year.
He looks a little evil for the Mad Hatter. Next time I need to get pinker makeup for him and the wig. There wasn't a bunny outfit at the place I got the costumes, so I got a dark vader outfit for Corbin. He looked much too sweet to be darth vader. But he was still cute!

Connor was the gold ironman and Kyler was the silver ironman. Here he is with Miss Katieand Miss Anita. He was also Buzz Lightyear. It was a little rainy and windy Halloween night. Randy took the boys. He dressed up like a burglar.

Halloween!!!

Oh we had so much fun this year for Halloween! We did the neighborhood "boo" . The boys loved it!
I made halloween themed sugar cookies.
Then we waited til was dark to deliver them. The boys were getting ready to look and find the houses! Then the boys got to make their own creations.Connor eating his caramel apple he made with some friends. (the hat is off of a christmas bear his speech teacher gave him.) ;)Isn't this cute? It is just christmas lights and milk jugs. But it was fun to make and display.

Ride To A Witch

I am finally to October!! That's what happens when I take 6 months off from blogging. We had lots of fun this halloween. We went to Gardner Village and tried the Ride to a Witch event. They do it every year. It was a fun family activity.
Kyler was so scared of this witch! She was the one that did the registration for the event. He saw her and wouldn't come near her! Then when I brought him over he looked down or covered his eyes! lol! He was fine with all of the other witches but not her!!
The boys on the wagon with their "tickets".Another one of the witches.
They learned how to make poison apples.
And met the witch who stayed to long in the bath.
And painted her toe nails to see if that would help get her out of the bath.
This was their pet "horse" whose halloween costume is a "goat".They had witches all over the village. Here are a few we found.Poor little Corbin was exhausted!!
